The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia His Excellency, Greg Moriarty toured the Balikpapan Facility of Coates Indonesia. Accompanying staff included Australian Trade Commissioner, Ms Julianne Merriman, Counselor Public Affairs Mr. Marcello, Second Secretary Mr. Benjamin Koster and Second Secretary Ms. Cassandra Eadie.

The Ambassador was met by Coates Hire Indonesia, President Director Mr. Russell Wood, Head of Finance Department Mrs. Nurhidayah P Ruminingtias and Commercial Director Mr. Krisna Prayogi. The Ambassador was provided with a tour of the facility and the opportunity to talk some of the 150 with Indonesian employees of Coates Indonesia followed by a short speech by the Ambassador highlighting the close people to people links between Indonesia and Australia. Local staff took advantage of the moment to engage with the Ambassador and his team showing great pride in their company and their town.

Following the tour the Ambassador was provided with a briefing of Coates Indonesia Operations highlighting the overseas training programs for Coates employees and the dedicated CSR programs conducted by Coates Indonesia. Of particular interest was the positive economic forecast provided and efforts of the company to grow and invest in Kalimantan and across Indonesia. Other discussion topics included, government sponsored training, infrastructure developments and standards.

The company took great pride in showing the significant advances in value adding to base rental products in Indonesia. The active process of moving as many technical processes “on shore” to Indonesia has raised the domestic content of all products to very high levels. This has added both expertise, revenue and jobs to the domestic marketplace with much higher growth forecast.

Critically it was explained that the Value Adding process was part of the larger Coates Indonesia mission to set the Standard in Heavy Equipment Hire Indonesia.
